Letter to the editor | Promises broken

November 27, 2013

Hold on to your wallet; another tax is coming.

The Transportation Funding Act (HR-1) was imposed on all of us Monday, signed by Gov. Tom Corbett.

It will be a $2.3 billion tax that all of us will be on the hook to pay for. If you think it’s just for roads and bridges, think again. It’s full of big-barrel pork spending.

The local politicians are bringing it home.

How do we pay for it?

When you pull into the gas station, the amount will be about 28 cents more per gallon.

Your driver’s license fee is going to increase.

Next time you’re pulled over for a traffic violation by the police, you will say, “Wow! A lot higher.”

What about the promises of downsizing of the state government to pay for the roads and bridges that these progressive politicians were telling us?

Republicans and Democrats who said yea to this bill need to be held accountable in their next elections. The lies and corruption continue. How much more can we taxpayers absorb?
