Penn State women’s hockey: Nittany Lions tie Maine

— Nicole Paniccia stopped 44 shots as Penn State skated to a 1-1 tie with Maine on Satutrday afternoon at Pegula Ice Arena..

Shannon Yoxheimer scored for the Nittany Lions (3-12-2) in the second period. Yoxheimer converted off assists from Hannah Hoenshell and Jordin Pardoski for her fifth goal of the season.

Maine (0-12-4) tied it with nine seconds remaining in the second period on Brianne Kilgour’s third goal of the season. The Black Bears, who had lost eight straight, outshot the Nittany Lions 45-30. Maine outshot Penn State 6-0 in overtime, but Panniccia kept the Black Bears off the scoreboard.

Penn State returns to action Dec. 6 and 7 at Mercyhurst.
