Altoona drug bust nets thousands in cash

An Altoona drug bust Saturday yielded thousands of dollars in cash and a large amount of drugs, Altoona police said.

Police were called at 2319 Maple Ave. at 11:46 p.m. Saturday on a report of a man in a house with a gun. They seized $5,300 in cash; three-quarters of a pound of marijuana; crack cocaine; numerous packets of heroin; scales; pipes and narcotics packaging material; a 3.80 handgun, which is believed to be stolen; and 47 rare silver-dollar coins.

Jalaal Ibn Battle, Michael Ernesto Mitchell and Mandy Sue Pierce were all arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
