Bellefonte school board elects new president, vice president

From CDT staff reportsDecember 4, 2013

The Bellefonte Area school board elected new officers Tuesday after the previous president and vice president were voted out in November.

Keith Hamilton will serve as president, and the vice president will be Bob Lumley-Sapanski. They replace former president Becky Rock and vice president Jeff Steiner, the two incumbents who lost their re-election bids.

As president, Hamilton will assume a role that makes him the public face of the board.

He said Wednesday he’s hopeful the board will continue to work together.

“I hope to have good conversations, good dialogue, working together uniformly,” he said.

In addition, Hamilton said he looks forward to carrying out the plan for a new Bellefonte Area High School football field and track.

Joining the board for four-year terms were Spring Township farmer Rodney Musser and Spring Township Police Chief Michael Danneker. Musser previously served for 111/2 years before leaving the board in 2009.

The school board will move the location of its meetings in 2014, from the high school library to the middle school cafeteria. Meetings will be on Tuesdays, but the date each month will vary. The district will post meeting dates online at
