PHILIPSBURG — Philipsburg-Osceola fans will be able to take in three sporting events this week just for helping someone stay a little warm this winter.

According to P-O Middle School Assistant Principal Kelly Rees, Mountie fans, and their opponents’ supporters, will have the chance to take in a game for free. All they have to do is support the school district’s coat drive.

Run by the middle school’s student council, the coat drive is in its fourth year.

“As the temperature begins to drop, there are many families that could use our help during this giving time of year,” the student council said in a release.

To get a shot at watching for free the P-O’s boys basketball team take on Penns Valley on Tuesday night, Thursday’s wrestling match with Chestnut Ridge or the girls basketball game with Tyrone on Friday, all taking place at the high school, warm clothes are the ticket.

The drive is collecting coats and more. A new or gently used coat, or new hats or gloves, will be accepted instead of the cost of admission.

The coats and other winter accessories will be used to keep families from P-O or other surrounding areas comfortable during the cold coming months.

The student council will give the collected clothing to local community groups to distribute to those in need.
