Penn State offering scholarships in online MBA program

From CDT staff reportsDecember 10, 2013

Penn State will offer as much as $10,000 in merit-based scholarships to students in its online MBA program, the university announced Monday.

The university hopes the financial incentive will help attract highly qualified applicants to Penn State and keep them here, said professor Ashutosh Deshmukh, of the Erie campus. Most of Penn State’s online MBA students are mid-level managers working in the business field and take the program to advance their careers.

Current and new students will be eligible, and the money will be awarded based on the student’s qualifications and the amount of funding available.

Penn State’s online MBA program is handled by faculty at the Behrend, Harrisburg and Great Valley campuses, and the Smeal College of Business at University Park. The four academic units will pool the money to invest in the scholarship program.

The program opened in 2002, and nearly 700 students have graduated.
