High school girls’ basketball: Bald Eagle Area falls to West Branch

— West Branch outscored Bald Eagle Area 28-10 in the first and third quarters and knock off the Lady Eagles 47-34 in the season opener for both teams.

West Branch led 10-2 after one quarter, but BEA rallied to within 17-15 at the half. The Lady Warriors regained control by outscore the Lady Eagles 18-8 in the third quarter.

“They got us in the first quarter and we made a run,” BEA coach Troy Butterworth said. “The third quarter we came out a little slow. Those two quarters killed us.”

Christie Sabol (12), Nichole Miller (11) and and Madison McCracken (10) each scored in double figures for West Branch. Haley Giedroc had 10 points and Maddie Cingle grabbed eight rebounds for BEA.
