High school girls’ basketball: DuBois edges Philipsburg-Osceola

DuBois edges P-O

Philipsburg-Osceola overcame a poor first quarter, but stumbled early in the fourth as DuBois knocked off the Lady Mounties 38-35 in their home opener on Monday.

The Lady Mounties trailed 9-2 after one quarter, but rallied to take a 27-26 lead heading into the final period. DuBois grabbed the lead back early in the final period and P-O never recovered. The Lady Mounties had the ball down three points on several occasions, but could not get closer than the final margin.

Abby Showers led P-O with 14 points. Haylee Haywward added 11. Courtney Chandler’s nine points paced DuBois.
