High school wrestling: Bald Eagle Area rallies past Clearfield

— Bald Eagle Area stormed back from a late 11-point deficit to knock off Clearfield 37-33 on Thursday.

The Eagles trailed 33-22 heading into the final three matches. Corey Thompson started the comeback with a pin in 3:56 at 160 pounds and Mitchell Taylor put the Eagles ahead with a pin in 2:58 at 170.

The match then came down to the winner between BEA’s Chase Meyers and Clearfield’s Tristen Carruthers at 182. Meyers pulled out the win in a tough 10-9 decision.

The Eagles pulled out the triumph despite forfeiting two weight classes. Clint McCaslin (138) and Ryan Guenot (145) recorded pins for BEA. Mike Kachik (113) had a major decision, while Clayton Giedroc (106) and Cobey Bainey (120) each won by decision.

Michael Beck (152), Noah Kline (132( and Josh McClarren (126) had pins for the Bison.
