Our View | Thumbs up, down for Tuesday

December 17, 2013

Thumbs up: To those who participated in Saturday’s local candlelight vigil marking the one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and honoring the victims and their families. Candles were placed on 26 chairs to represent the 26 victims.

Thumbs down: To Joseph Mishock, who was sentenced Thursday to up to 231/2 months in the Centre County Correctional Institution for delivery of a controlled substance. Mishock, who calls himself the “Trypnotist,” had fled to California but was extradited to face charges here.

Thumbs up: To crews throughout Centre County that managed to stay ahead of Saturday’s snowstorm by keeping roadways clear, resulting in a relatively low number of accidents given the amount of snow that fell. We thank them for contributing to our safe travels.
