Penn State football: Vaunted prospect Holley commits to Nittany Lions

From CDT staff reportsDecember 18, 2013

— Penn State added a prized recruit to its 2014 class on Tuesday when vaunted prospect Thomas Holley declared his intention to play for the Nittany Lions.

Holley’s commitment — which is non-binding until he signs a letter of intent — is the 18th in the current class and third from a defensive linemen.

A defensive tackle rated as a five-star recruit by 24/7 Sports who recently completed his senior season at Lincoln High (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Holley finished with 65 tackles, 24 for losses and seven sacks for the undefeated Railsplitters.

At 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, Holley projects to a position where Penn State is losing two starters from last season’s squad. Team MVP DaQuan Jones is out of eligibility and is likely to be selected in May’s NFL Draft. Junior Kyle Baublitz decided not to return for his senior season.

Rivals.com ranks Holley the No. 3 overall defensive tackle prospect in the country.
