Swimming: State College swims away from Cumberland Valley

From CDT staff reportsDecember 18, 2013

— State College earned a pair of Mid Penn Conference wins Tuesday, beating Cumberland Valley 122-64 in the girls’ meet and 108-77 in the boys’ meet.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Little Lions won all but three swim races to easily score the win. Kate Cooper led the way with victories in the 200-yard individual medley and 100 butterfly. Also scoring victories were Fiona Vashaw in the 50 free, Harly Stuyvesant in the 100 free, Sarah Koberna in the 100 backstroke and Kirsten Hillsley in the 100 breaststroke.

They also swept all three relays.

On the boys’ side, Cumberland Valley won all but four events, but the Little Lions picked up enough points from second- and third-place finishes to edge the Eagles.

Bradley Gibble scored a win in the 200 IM, Kris Bittel was first in the 500 free and Ben Gingher had the top score in 1-meter diving.
