High school girls’ basketball: Penns Valley comeback falls short against Central

— Penns Valley recovered from a slow start, but could not complete the comeback in a 40-36 loss to Central in a Mountain League contest Thursday night.

The Dragons led 25-13 at halftime before pulling to within a bucket in the fourth quarter.

“We had a slow start, but we picked it up in the second half,” Lady Rams coach Andrea Borland said. “We got to within two and then we couldn’t make a bucket. We had a lot of opportunities but we couldn’t get one to fall.”

Karli Ripka’s eight points and Kourtney Beamesderfer’s seven paced the Lady Rams (2-2).

Ashley Smith’s 17 points and Mikaela McGraw’s 10 paced the Dragons (4-1).
