Letter to the editor | Garman’s history can’t be replaced

December 21, 2013

A society without memory loses its past.

And its past is what helps a community envision a future.

The destruction of the Garman Theatre would be a mistake for Bellefonte, Centre County and Pennsylvania.

Once gone, it cannot be retrieved.

And to be replaced by what? An apartment building that could be built in a number of other sites.

Who is in charge here? The developers or the community?
