Lewistown pair jailed after report of retail theft at Benner Pike Wal-Mart

From CDT staff reportsDecember 24, 2013

Two Lewistown residents could spend the holidays in the Centre County Correctional Facility for allegedly stealing more than $3,000 in merchandise from Wal-Mart.

Molly Packer and Joseph Peffer were in county jail Monday after each failed to post $5,000 bail. Preliminary hearings for the pair are set for Jan. 2, according to court documents.

Packer allegedly told investigators the two drove from Lewistown to the Wal-Mart on Benner Pike to steal items for Christmas, police wrote in charging documents.

They walked out of the store with two laptops and numerous clothing, food and general houseware items, police said. Employees tried to stop the pair, but they left the store.

They were found a short distance away from the store.
