Centre Hall man killed in crash

From CDT staff reportsDecember 25, 2013

A 22-year-old Centre Hall man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Christmas Eve.

State police at Rockview said the crash occurred when the driver of a 2005 Jeep Liberty lost control of his vehicle and crashed head-on into another vehicle on Brush Valley Road/state Route 192 in Miles Township.

Police said Joshua Manning, 24, of Rebersburg, was driving east on Brush Valley Road about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday when he lost control of his vehicle due to icy road conditions. The Jeep traveled into the opposing lane and struck a 1982 GMC 7000 driven by Gerald Corl, 47, of Bellefonte.

Ethan Wolfe, a passenger in the Jeep, was killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers. Wolfe was wearing a seat belt, police said.

Sayers said an autopsy was performed on Wolfe, and his death was a result of head trauma. Wolfe’s death was ruled accidental.

Manning and two other passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Geisinger Medical Center by Penns Valley EMS. Corl also reported minor injuries, but was not transported to the hospital.
