Girls basketball: Philipsburg-Osceola earns first victory

— Philipsburg-Osceola earned its first win of the season and won its opening-round game of the Williamsburg Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Mounties (1-6) will face the host Blue Pirates in the championship game Monday night.

“We were in a slump and we just needed a confidence-builder,” P-O coach Doug Myers said. “We felt coming into the tournament we could do well. This was a good win.”

The Lady Mounties for 18 points from Abby Showers, 16 from Haylee Hayward and 13 from Alyssa Myers, with Hayward draining a pair of free throws with 25 seconds left to help ice the win.

Hannah Kitko drilled seven 3-pointers for a game-high 21 points for the Damsels (2-5).
