Spring Township man injured in ATV accident

From CDT staff reportsDecember 30, 2013

A Spring Township man was injured Monday in an ATV accident, state police at Rockview said.

Jeremiah Swisher, of Lower Coleville Road, was riding his ATV in the Graymont stone quarry area when he rolled it over, injuring his leg and leaving him unable to walk, police said.

Swisher crawled about 200 yards before he halted, unable to continue, police said. He began to yell, and after about 3 hours, he was heard by a person on Edward Drive in the Crestview development off state Route 550. Troopers responded, entering the woods in search of Swisher.

Assisted at the scene by Bellefonte Fire Department personnel, a trooper located Swisher. The trooper called 911, and was located by county workers using the troopers GPS coordinates.

Fire department personnel carried Swisher to the closest road, and he was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by ambulance.
