Girls basketball: Williamsburg beats Philipsburg-Osceola in tourney title game

— In a game filled with fouls and free-throw shooting, Williamsburg made enough down the stretch to pull away from Philipsburg-Osceola 58-51 Monday night in the championship game of Williamsburg’s Holiday Tournament.

The Lady Blue Pirates (5-2) were 18 for 37 from the foul line in the game, and 8 of 15 from the stripe in the fourth quarter. Randilyn Peck, who scored a game-high 25 points, was 4 for 4 from the line in the final moments and 8 for 10 in the game.

Haylee Hayward’s 18 points and Abby Showers’ 13 led the Lady Mounties (1-7). Hayward and Alyssa Myers were named to the All-Tournament team, while Showers was honored as the tournament’s Defensive Player award-winner.
