Penn State baseball: Former all-star pitcher ‘Wild Thing’ Williams to speak at preseason dinner

— The Penn State baseball program will host its annual First Pitch Dinner on Feb. 1, with former Major League pitcher and current MLB Network analyst Mitch Williams serving as keynote speaker.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Penn Stater, with new head coach Rob Cooper also speaking.

The team will host a kid’s clinic earlier in the day from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a team practice from noon to 2 p.m. A VIP reception and silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Penn Stater, followed by the dinner and program.

Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams was a relief pitcher for six teams from 1986 until 1997, including for the Philadelphia Phillies in the early 1990s, and registered 192 saves.
