Girls basketball: DuBois Central Catholic drops Philipsburg-Osceola

— The Philipsburg-Osceola girls’ basketball team pulled to within three points in the fourth quarter, but could not close the gap the rest of the way as DuBois Central Catholic pulled away for a 56-44 non-league victory Monday night.

The Cardinals were 7 for 11 from the foul line in the final eight minutes to lock up the win. Kylee Schaffer led the effort with a 5 for 6 performance from the stripe in the period, on her way to netting 17 points.

Maria French’s 23 points paced the Cardinals (5-4), and Jordy Frank added 12 points.

Abby Showers’s 16 points, Haylee Hayward’s 10 points and Alyssa Myers’ eight points led the Lady Mounties (2-8).
