High school boys’ basketball: Bald Eagle Area downs Mt. Union, improves to 8-1

January 9, 2014

— Bald Eagle Area just keeps winning.

The Eagles (8-1) fended off a stingy Mt. Union squad early and pulled away for a 70-55 win in boys’ basketball action on Wednesday.

“We came out in the third quarter and they went into a zone and we pulled them out of the zone and started running our offense,” BEA coach Bill Butterworth said.

Like they’ve done all season, the Eagles continued to get scoring from up and down the lineup.

BEA’s Brandon Gettig turned in a career-high 29 points to lead all scorers while Bryan Greene (13) and Jason Jones (12) both finished in double figures for the Eagles. Meanwhile, Bryce Greene, Trey Butterworth, Ryan Dyke and Noah Chambers also pitched in points for BEA.

“Whoever steps on the court for us seems to be making plays that help us win,” Butterworth said.
