12-year-old Rebersburg boy killed in farm accident

From CDT staff reportsJanuary 10, 2014

A Rebersburg boy was killed Friday afternoon in Miles Township when he was pinned between a barn and an out-of-control horse-drawn wagon.

At about 2:40 p.m., the 12-year-old and another Amish boy were carrying silage in a wagon, police said, when a board broke loose and one boy fell out of the wagon.

The other boy was seen hanging off the side of the wagon, which continued past the barn, pinning him between it and the wagon.

The boy died on the scene from blunt force trauma to the chest and head, state police at Rockview said.

Police were assisted by Penns Valley EMS, Miles Township Fire Company and county Coroner Scott Sayers.
