High school wrestling: Philipsburg-Osceola tops Penns Valley at Juniata Duals

— Philipsburg-Osceola went 4-1 and Penns Valley finished 3-2 in the Juniata Duals wrestling tournament on Saturday.

The two schools wrestled each other in their final match of the day with the Mounties winning 37-25. P-O had defeated Penns Valley 38-21 on Thursday.

“We fought harder today,” Penns Valley coach Joel Brinker said. “We showed a lot of improvement in just two days.

P-O (5-4) also knocked off host Juniata (57-18), Trinity (69-6) and Susquehannah Township (58-11). The Mounties’ lone loss was a 40-24 decision against unbeaten Huntingdon.

Bryce Bennett (106), Nick Gray (220) and Logan Day (285) all had 5-0 records on the day.

The Rams (9-5) defeated Lancaster Catholic (51-28) Newport (51-26) and Selinsgrove (55-21). Penns Valley also fell 37-30 to Saucon Valley.

Curtis Decker (120), Seth Decker (152), Andrew Hurd (160) and Corey Hazel (170) went unbeated for the Rams.
