Former county official Keith Bierly to seek Penn State board seat

A longtime Centre County commissioner and district judge will run for an alumni seat on Penn State’s board of trustees in the election this spring.

Keith Bierly, who got his master’s degree in constitutional law from Penn State in 1977, is seeking nominations then the process begins Wednesday.

“Penn State is a great university, and I would be honored to serve as a trustee to help the university move forward,” said Bierly, who lives in Centre Hall and was raised in Rebersburg.

Bierly spent more than 30 years in public service: 16 years a commissioner, 12 years as a district judge and seven years as secretary of the Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board.

Three alumni seats are up for election in the cycle. The incumbents are Marianne Alexander, Jesse Arnelle and Joel Myers.
