High school wrestling: Bellefonte rallies past Penns Valley

Bellefonte stormed back from a 19-point deficit to win the final five matches as the Red Raiders rallied to a 38-33 victory against Penns Valley on Tuesday.

Five straight bonus point wins (four pins, forfeit) had Penns Valley a 33-14 lead with five bouts remaining in the match, which started at 126 pounds. Toby Cain got the comeback started with a pin at 220. Tim Benford (285) won a decision and Aaron Witherite (106) received a forfeit to cut the deficit to 33-29.

Luke Leathers gave the Red Raiders a 35-33 lead with a pin at 113. With the final match to decide it, Bellefonte’s Brock Port took a 6-0 win at 120.

Seth Decker (152), Corey Hazel (170), Jason Thoms (182) and Logan Johnson (195) each had falls for the Rams. Drew Hurd (160) received a forfeit and Jared Hurd (126) took a decision.

Trevor Corl (132) also had a pin for the Red Raiders. Nate Rosenberger (145) earned a technical fall and Zach Musser (138) won a decision.
