Our View | Thumbs up, down for Friday

January 17, 2014

Thumbs up: To the many local events this week honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., including a Day of Service, audio broadcasts of King’s addresses, and performances and speeches. A complete list of campus events is at mlk.psu.edu.

Thumbs down: To whoever set three fires in two days, one of which destroyed a storage shed on the Penn State campus. The others were on Calder Way and East Beaver Avenue. State College and Penn State authorities are working to determine whether the fires are related.

Thumbs up: To quarterback Christian Hackenberg for his continued commitment to the Penn State football team — and to working with coach James Franklin. “I’m still here. This is where I want to play,” Hackenberg told reporters on Wednesday.
