Recap: Pepperdine vs. Gonzaga

Malibu, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sam Dower led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds as the Gonzaga Bulldogs took down the Pepperdine Waves, 70-53, in at a West Coast Conference tilt at Firestone Fieldhouse.

Kevin Pangos added 14 points for the Bulldogs (15-3, 5-1 WCC), while Przemek Karnowski finished with 11 points.

For the Waves (11-8, 4-3), Stacy Davis led the team with 12 points and seven rebounds, but turned the ball over six times.

Gonzaga shot 50 percent from the field in the opening half, including 4-of-9 from 3-point distance. Pepperdine was held to just 30.8 percent shooting and 1-of-8 from beyond the arc in the half. With the game knotted at 18-18 midway through the first, the Bulldogs outscored the Waves 21-3 over the final 9:36 of the period, as they led comfortably at the half, 39-21.

Gonzaga shot 40.7 percent from the field in the second half, missing all but one of its nine 3-point attempts. Pepperdine couldn't capitalize as they continued to struggled from the field, shooting 34.6 percent in the second half. The Bulldogs led by as many as 26 points in the second as they coasted to victory.

Gonzaga dominated in the paint, outscoring Pepperdine 38-20. The Bulldogs also finished with a 40-35 rebounding edge on the night.
