UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State men’s volleyball team enjoyed its home opener Saturday night, sweeping past Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne in Rec Hall’s South Gym.
Aaron Russell’s 12 kills on .429 hitting led the way for the No. 12 Nittany Lions (2-2) in the 25-21, 25-16, 25-23 win. Russell also had 10 digs and three blocks while his brother Peter added nine kills, Taylor Hammond gave out 35 assists and Matt Seifert also had three blocks. Nick Goodell and Matt Callaway each had seven kills.
Eddie Rivera’s 11 kills led the No. 14 Mastadons (2-1), who were outblocked 7-4.
Penn State, which hit .322 and hosts Ball State at 4 p.m. Saturday, began a stretch of 11 straight home matches.
