Penn State women’s gymnastics: Lions take quad meet

— Penn State had the top team score in all four events as the Nittany Lions reached one of the top scores in school history in a quad meet on Saturday at Rec Hall.

The Nittany Lions (6-1) scored 196.025 points, to outdistance Southeast Missouri State (193.8), Cornell (191.0) and Illinois at Chicago (189.25). Penn State won the vault (49.075), uneven bars (49.175), balance beam (48.375) and floor exercise (49.4).

“We were outstanding tonight,” said Nittany Lion coach Jeff Thompson. “We got off to a great start on each event, which was something that we focused on this week.”

Kassidy Stauder won the balance beam (9.9) uneven bars (9.875) on the way to her first all-around title (39.275). Emma Sibson took the vault (9.85) and Krystal Welsh had a career-best 9.925 to win the floor exercise.
