— Penn State’s Brittany Basinger and Mallory Weber, along with coach Erica Walsh, helped the U.S. national team win the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football Under-20 title on Sunday, beating Mexico 4-0.

The U.S. outscored its opponents 29-0 over the course of the tournament en route to winning its third straight U-20 title and fourth overall to wrap up a spot in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held at several sites across Canada from Aug. 5-24. Mexico and Costa Rica also earned spots in the World Cup.

Basinger, a freshman defender, started the first three games for the U.S. and logged over 200 minutes. She netted her first international goal in a win over Guatemala. Weber, a sophomore forward, scored twice against Guatemala and another against Trinidad and Tobago in the semifinals.

Walsh served as an assistant coach with the U.S. team.
