Running-themed blood drive Wednesday in State College

From CDT staff reportsJanuary 22, 2014

The Nittany Valley Running Club held a running-themed blood drive Wednesday in the gym at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, in downtown State College.

Volunteers screened several popular running movies, such as “Chariots of Fire,” and unique gifts for donors were available. Donors also were able to enter a drawing to win free entry to several spring and summer races, such as the Arts Festival Race, Allegheny Front Trail Run, Sidewinder 10K, and Linden Loop, as well as a fleece jacket or cap from the Tussey Mountainback.

“We want to make it a festive event while helping our community, especially during this time when blood supplies for hospitals in our region are low,” Amy Blake, the club’s president, said in a news release.
