Boys’ basketball: Bald Eagle Area suffers second straight defeat

From CDT staff reportsJanuary 23, 2014

— Bald Eagle Area suffered its second straight loss, this one a 69-54 defeat in boys’ basketball action to Huntingdon on Wednesday night.

After playing a triple overtime game against Penns Valley on Monday and having most of its practice wiped out by bad weather on Tuesday, Bald Eagle Area (11-3) wasn’t able to come up with the hustle plays that have been the Eagles’ hallmark this season.

Meanwhile, the Bearcats (9-5) did.

“We just got off to a slow start tonight,” BEA coach Bill Butterworth said. “We’re not taking anything away from Huntingdon , they played a good game tonight. They were getting second and third opportunities, they out-rebounded us. ... Tonight they out-hustled us in every aspect of the game.”

Brandon Gettig led BEA with 18 points but the Eagles couldn’t slow down Nate Gearhart who led all scorers with 27 points.
