Let’s establish a federal minimum wage of $15 an hour already.

Workers earning below or near the current minimum wage would benefit directly and our economy would benefit indirectly.

Working 52 weeks, 40 hours a week at $15 an hour would provide income of $31,200 a year that minimum-wage earners would spend because they must.

These people would then consume more goods and services, the market would react by increasing production; increased production would generate jobs; and tax revenues would increase, thus completing the demand-supply cycle.

This is a Democratic jobs plan that Republicans should support.

Republicans need to get on board with something positive, something they have not done for a long time. They say jobs are their No. 1 priority but they seem to be quite absent-minded.

Instead of producing jobs, they produce years of congressional obstruction.

The GOP wants to give more subsidies, more giveaways, more influence and more money to the already rich with the trickle-down economy idea, which has not worked.

We really are at a them-versus-us juncture, you and me versus the super rich.

Please support things that are in your own self-interest and reject what is of interest only to the very rich.
