Patton Township offers junior police academy

Patton Township police are taking applications for junior police academy that will start mid-February.

The academy is open to students ages 15 to 18 who are interested in a career in criminal justice or public service.

The program runs from 6 to 8 p.m. over six Thursdays starting Feb. 13. Activities include a crime-scene investigation, a mock trial, a tour of the county jail and speakers from the FBI and the Bureau of Narcotics Investigation from the state Attorney General’s Office.

There is no charge to attend the academy.

Applications are available at the guidance offices in local schools. The deadline to apply is Feb. 7.
