The Gap Factory Outlet in Trader Joe’s Plaza on North Atherton Street opened Friday morning.
Earlier this month, Gap and Gap Kids closed in Nittany Mall. Mall Manager Lou Kanzleiter had no comment when asked what the plans were to fill the vacant spaces.
Al Pringle, CEO and president at Keystone Real Estate, which represents the property, said Old Navy should open within 30 days.
Best Western wins award
Best Western Plus University Park Inn and Suites received the Best Western Green Award at Best Western International’s convention in San Antonio.
The award is given to a hotel that demonstrates a commitment to sustaining resources and reducing its carbon footprint.
According to Best Western, the hotel features energy-saving devices in each room, with recycling, a linen reuse program, Energy Star appliances, local produce and more.
Curves plans new classes
Curves of Bellefonte, 401 W. High St., is now offering workouts with Jillian Michaels’ total body workouts.
Michaels is a nationally known health and wellness expert and a host on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”
The workouts are designed for all women and include modification based on exercise level.

Fundraiser set at Spats
The event, “Local on the Menu,” will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the local food scene. It will showcase live entertainment, and food items from Stone Meadow Farm, Gemelli Bakers, J.L. Farm, Elk Creek, Tait Farm and more.
Spats owner Duke Gastiger will also be on hand to mingle with guests.
Friends & Farmers Cooperative is a local initiative that was created last winter to promote local and sustainable products.
