Penn State football: ‘The Signature Event’ to trumpet recruiting class

tjohnson@centredaily.comJanuary 25, 2014

— National Signing Day will take on a new significance for Penn State fans in less than two weeks.

Head coach James Franklin will host “The Signature Event” at the Bryce Jordan Center on Feb. 5 to celebrate Penn State’s incoming recruits on the day they will confirm their commitments to Penn State by signing letters of intent.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $5.

The Nittany Lions currently have 21 players in the 2014 class of which five — receiver De’Andre Thompkins, defensive lineman Tarow Barney, quarterback Michael O’Connor, defensive lineman Antoine White and offensive lineman Chasz Wright — are already enrolled.

“We are very excited about the response we have received from recruits, their families and high school coaches,” Franklin said. “Feb. 5 can’t come soon enough. We are looking forward to welcoming the new additions to our football family.”
