Wrestling: Penns Valley’s Seth Decker claims 100th win, Grove City crown

— Penns Valley’s Seth Decker earned his 100th victory in the championship bout at 152 pounds to lead Penns Valley to a fifth-place finish among 30 teams at the Grove City Invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday.

Decker decisioned Conneaut’s Taylor Ellis 3-2 in the title match to become just the third Ram in school history to reach the milestone.

Curtis Decker (120) and Corey Hazel (170) had third-place finishes. Jason Thoms (182) took fourth, while Jared Hurd (126) placed sixth.

Stroudsburg won the team title with 235 points. Red Bank Valley (205), General McLane (205), Seneca Valley (151) and Penns Valley (151) rounded out the Top 5.

“The whole tournament everybody wrestled well,” Penns Valley coach Joe Brinker said. “The effort and attitude was good.”

The 11th-seeded Rams open the District 6 Class AA team duals against No. 5 Blairsville on Tuesday at Mount Union. The winner of that match will face No. 3 Mount Union also on Tuesday.
