Houtzdale man injured in 1-car, rollover crash

From CDT staff reportsJanuary 26, 2014

A Houtzdale man sustained a minor injury in a one-vehicle crash on Tyrone Pike in Rush Township.

Gerald Hanzel, 83, lost control of his vehicle while driving around a snowy curve at about 7:20 a.m. Sunday. His Ford F-150 truck traveled off the roadway, striking a small embankment and causing the vehicle to roll over.

The car rolled about 30 feet before stopping, but Hanzel was wearing a seat belt and was able to get out of the car under his own power.

He was taken to Tyrone Hospital for treatment of his injuries, and he will be cited with speeding.
