Police: Lewistown man faces charges after standoff

From CDT staff reportsJanuary 27, 2014

— An armed standoff ended without injuries late Sunday, but a Lewistown man faces numerous charges including burglary, aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.

Mifflin County Regional Police said Gary Lee Wagner, 55, took a gun into a home in Reedsville before fleeing to his home on South Main Street in Lewistown, where the standoff occurred.

Police said Wagner first entered the Reedsville home of his ex-wife and her husband at 10:19 p.m. and threatened the man in a second-floor bedroom. After a struggle, the occupants were able to push Wagner out of the room, barricade the door and call 911, police said.

A short time later, Granville Township and Lewistown Borough officers observed Wagner “outside his residence still in possession of a handgun.”

Wagner locked himself in his home but was taken into custody just after midnight.

He was taken to Mifflin County Prison to await arraignment on charges that also include criminal trespass, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
