Weis Market employee accused of theft from store

— A former Weis Market employee was arrested Wednesday on five felony counts related to theft after a Spring Township police investigation into missing money from the store.

Police said that Kevin Reed is accused of stealing more than $11,000 in cash and gift cards from the store after loss prevention personnel discovered a pattern of deficits in cash register transactions from an overnight self-checkout register.

Reed was arraigned before District Justice Kelley Gillette-Walker and placed in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is slated for Feb. 5.
