Swimming: State College splits with Upper St. Clair

— The State College swim team split with Upper St. Clair on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Little Lions had a 101-85 victory, while the Little Lions dropped the contest 125-61.

Juliet Garrigan led the way for State College with three victories. Garrigan was part of the winning 400 yard freestyle relay team and had solo wins in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

Other members of the winning relay team were Kate Cooper, Harly Stuyvesant and Hannah Finton. Other winners for the Lady Little Lions were Fiona Vashaw (50 freestyle), Samantha Woshell (1 meter diving), Courtney Quinn (100 butterfly) and Sarah Koberna (100 backstroke).

On the boys side, Upper St. Clair swept all the events. Bradley Gibble and Carter Hardy led the way for the Little Lions with a pair of second place finishes each. Gibble’s were in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle, while Hardy’s came in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

Joseph Liechty also had a second place finish for State College in the 100 breaststroke.
