State police investigate sexual abuse case in Clearfield County

BIGLER TOWNSHIP, Clearfield County — State police at Clearfield are reporting a case of sexual abuse involving an underage girl in Bigler Township.

The investigation covers multiple incidents between a 15-year-old girl and the suspect, a 21-year-old man living in the township. The acts are alleged to have happened over a five month period between July and November 2013, either at the suspect’s residence or in his vehicle nearby.

Police said the suspect engaged in sexual intercourse and oral sex with the victim, who is not old enough to consent under Pennsylvania law.

The man was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and indecent assault on Jan. 29. Charges were filed with District Judge James Hawkins in Houtzdale. No date for a preliminary hearing was released.
