UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State women’s volleyball team filled one of its two vacancies for an assistant coach Thursday, adding Stevie Mussie to the staff.
Mussie replaces Kaleena Davidson, who recently resigned for personal reasons. The defending national champions still have another opening, with Steve Aird leaving last week to become the new head coach at Maryland.
Mussie joins Penn State after spending last season at Virginia, serving with head coach and former Nittany Lion assistant Dennis Hohenshelt. Mussie also served on the staff at North Carolina State and Colorado after a standout career at Washington. She was the Most Outstanding Player of the 2006 NCAA regionals for the Huskies.
“We’re excited to announce the addition of Stevie Mussie to our staff at Penn State,” head coach Russ Rose said. “She came highly recommended from two people whose opinions I value very highly in Dennis Hohenshelt, my former assistant coach and the current head coach at Virginia, and Jim McLaughlin, who was her coach at the University of Washington.”
