Girls basketball: State College prevails on road

From CDT staff reportsFebruary 7, 2014

— Kyla Irwin and Bridget King each scored in double figures as State College closed its Mid Penn Conference schedule with a 53-28 girls’ basketball victory over Chambersburg on Thursday.

Irwin netted a game-high 24 points and King added 14 as the Lady Little Lions (12-7, 9-5 Mid Penn) held the Trojans to single digits in each quarter.

The team entered the week expecting to play three games, but the weather left State College with just one practice and one game, and three make-up games left on the schedule.

“I tell the girls they have to be ready,” coach Bethany Irwin said. “It’s February and they should be responding and playing the game of basketball. They did a good job on the road tonight.”
