High school boys’ basketball: Bald Eagle Area surges to three-way tie in Mountain League with win over Tyrone

— Three players scored in double figures to help Bald Eagle Area beat Tyrone 70-59 in boys’ basketball action on Friday night.

With the win, the Eagles moved into a three-way tie with Penns Valley and Tyrone atop the Mountain League standings. All three teams are 9-3 in the league.

“Hopefully, we’re peaking at the right time,” BEA coach Bill Butterworth said.

Bald Eagle Area (16-4) outscored the Golden Eagles 23-15 in the second quarter to take a 35-29 lead into halftime. The Eagles then held off Tyrone (15-3) to seal the win in the second half.

Bryan Greene scored 18 points to lead BEA, Brandon Gettig finished with 15 and Jason Jones added 11. Jordan Miller scored a game-high 20 points for Tyrone.
