High school girls’ basketball: Penns Valley’s defense sparks comeback win over Clearfield

From CDT staff reportsFebruary 8, 2014

— Penns Valley trailed at halftime but clamped down defensively in the second half, found its offense and sprinted past Clearfield for a 35-24 win on Friday night.

Clearfield led 16-13 after two quarters before Penns Valley’s suffocating defense took hold. The Lady Rams (13-6) held the Bison to just eight second-half points to pull away for the Think Pink Night victory.

“We did a nice job defensively,” Penns Valley coach Andrea Borland said. “We had a slow start but we came together and picked it up in the second half.”

Tangie Lyons led Penns Valley with 10 points.
