Bison hold off Lady Mounties

Abby Showers and Alyssa Myers had big nights, but it wasn’t enough to help Philipsburg-Osceola in a last-minute loss to Clearfield on Tuesday.

Myers hit an apparent 3-pointer with about a minute left and the Lady Mounties thought they had the game tied at 51-51, but the officials ruled it was a 2-pointer, and P-O was forced to foul. Emily Ryan hit both free throw attempts to take the lead to three with nine seconds left, and a desperation 3-pointer was off the mark at the buzzer.

“We thought we had it tied for a few seconds,” P-O coach Doug Myers said. “That changed our strategy.”

Showers finished with a double-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds and five steals, while Alyssa Myers added 17 points and Haylee Hayward had five steals.

Rachel Glenny’s 16 points and Emily Aveni’s 12 paced the Bison.
