High school basketball: Pairings announced for District 6 Class A, AA basketball

The Bald Eagle Area and Penns Valley boys’ basketball teams each got high seeds Tuesday as the District 6 tournament brackets began to take shape.

Dates and times are expected to be announced Wednesday for Class A and AA, with the Class AAA and AAAA brackets to follow.

The Eagles are seeded third in Class AA and have a first-round bye, facing the winner of No. 6 Bishop McCort and No. 11 Central Cambria. The Rams are the No. 4 seed and will meet No. 13 Cambria Heights in the first round.

Also, St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy will make its first district playoff appearance as a No. 9 seed and will meet No. 8 Saltsburg in Class A.

On the girls’ side, Penns Valley is No. 8 in Class AA and opens against No. 9 Penn Cambria.
