A winter storm watch will begin at 1 a.m. Thursday and continue through the evening, as at least 6 inches of snow is predicted for Centre County, according to the National Weather Service in State College.

The snow is expected to move from the South, which experienced a crippling ice storm, and become heaviest Thursday morning through late afternoon, according to the NWS.

The snow is expected to taper by Thursday evening, with periods of light snow following.

Temperatures are expected to be in the low 20s with northeast winds at 10 to 20 mph, causing poor visibility on roads.
